Evolution Infrastructure acted as model auditor to Reichmuth & Co on its 100MW / 200MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located in Arzberg, Wunsiedel district, Germany.
The project entered into operations in December 2025, representing a significant grid-scale storage asset within the German power market. Equipped with advanced lithium-ion battery technology, the facility is designed to provide essential grid stabilisation services, including frequency response and balancing support, while enabling the efficient storage of surplus renewable generation.
As renewable penetration continues to increase across Germany and wider Europe, assets such as the Arzberg BESS are critical in addressing intermittency, reducing curtailment and enhancing overall system resilience. The project will support the integration of wind and solar generation, contributing to a more flexible and reliable electricity network as part of the broader European energy transition.
