We are delighted to have provided financial modelling support and acted as model auditor to AGR Renewables on the successful project financing of the Bicker Fen solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Lincolnshire, UK. The project secured debt funding from Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB).
The scheme comprises a 77MWp solar installation co-located with a 50MW BESS, designed to deliver clean renewable electricity to power up to 18,000 homes. The integrated storage system enables energy to be dispatched when most needed, while also providing grid stability services to National Grid.
Beyond its contribution to decarbonisation and carbon emissions reduction, the project will deliver local and environmental benefits. These include employment opportunities, support for the local economy, and biodiversity gains through habitat improvements and continued agricultural use of the land via sheep grazing.
With long-term potential to contribute significantly to the UK’s clean energy transition, Bicker Fen exemplifies the role of co-located solar and storage in creating a more flexible, resilient, and sustainable energy system.
Ramon Sequeira, Director at Evolution Infrastructure said:
“We are pleased to have supported AGR Renewables on the successful financing of Bicker Fen. Co-located solar and storage projects such as this are critical to ensuring reliable renewable power generation and enabling the UK to achieve its net zero ambitions.”
