The project represents a significant milestone in Akuo’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future in Portugal, with EvoInfra having previously acted as model auditor on the 180MWp Santas solar PV project. Located in the Gavião area of Alentejo, a region renowned for its abundant sunshine, Margalha makes the most of this natural resource to produce clean, local and renewable electricity.
Once operational, it will offset more than 45,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year and help the city of Gaviao, with over 4,000 inhabitants, become a positive energy municipality.
By reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening the country’s energy independence, this project plays an essential role in the fight against climate change.
