EvoInfra acted as model auditor to the Acorn consortium on financial close of the new Velindre Cancer Centre – a landmark project delivered under the Mutual Investment Model (MIM).
The consortium, comprising of Sacyr, Kajima Partnerships, abrdn and the Development Bank of Wales, have come together to fund the state-of-the-art Velindre Cancer centre, which will be built by contractor Sacyr UK and is due to start operating by April 2027. Work on site is now in progress. The funding group also includes Aviva Investors, Siemens, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, CaixaBank, Norinchukin, Nomura and Nord/LB as agent.
The contract, awarded by Velindre University NHS Trust, includes the design, construction, financing and a 25-year hard FM maintenance period. The new centre will be the pinnacle of innovation for UK healthcare and is set to be one of the most sustainable hospitals in the UK.
With a gross external area of 60,000 m2 plus external areas in a landscape setting of 7.86 ha, this cancer centre in Cardiff will improve cancer care for over 1.7 million people and importantly for future generations in Wales.
